Afing

Afing lies 10 km far from Jenesien. This hamlet is situated above the entrance to Sarntal.

Afing: the name derives from the Latin word 'avia' that means something like 'isolated place'. With the passing of the centuries the village changed its name. The access road of nowadays has been built only in 1980. Until then you could reach Afing only by the road over Rafenstein and from Jenesien.
Once Afing could be reached only by a very steep and narrow road above Rafenstein. Who comes from or goes to Afing can find the following restaurants on his way: Unterweg (889 metres), Moar (847 metres), Gruber (about 880 metres).
