During San Genesio Chestnut Weeks you will experience the „REAL TÖRGGELEN“ in traditional „törggele“ restaurants in Avigna and Cologna.
In San Genesio and Valas you can enjoy in participating restaurants exquisite chestnut-based specialites.
Also various programs, which allow you to combine culinary delights with pleasant excursions, are waiting for you to be discovered!

Chestnut, what a wonderful fruit! They were already popular in Europe before maize and potates arrived. Chestnuts have represented the main food source for local population during autumn and winter due to their nutritional values. They are rich in carbohydrate, acids, vitamin A-B-C and in minerals and trace elements like calcium, magnesium, sulphur and potassium and … also of course 100% biological.

They were even used as a means of payment and old people have planted the chestnut trees as a form of pension provision.
