Schupfenfest in Jenesien

Hiking, feasting and hearty music on the Salten high plateau

Be sure to attend the legendary Schupfenfest on the Salten high plateau in Jenesien! Every year on the third Sunday in September, Europe's highest larch plateau is transformed into a traditional gourmet landscape. The tempting aroma of a variety of South Tyrolean specialities fills the air and invites you to feast at the participating Schupfen (huts), which are catered by Jenesien associations.

Something for everyone
From savoury meat dishes and juicy dumplings to sweet treats, there is something for every palate. Cheerful ‘Musi’ (music in the local dialect) sounds throughout the Salten and makes hiking from Schupf to Schupf an unforgettable experience. The best place to start is on foot from the Haflinger Museum in Jenesien, from restaurant Tomanegger near Flaas, from the Schermoos car park shortly after Flaas or at Nobls from the "Locher" inn or "Wieser" inn. Shuttles or public busses will also take you comfortably to these starting points - you will receive more detailed information shortly before the event, for example at the tourist office in Jenesien. So - get your ‘dirndl’ or ‘lederhosen’ out of the wardrobe and off you go to the Schupfenfest!
