Marterloch – the longest and highest suspension bridge in South Tyrol

The bridge is part of the Marterloch Adventure Trail, which runs between the village of Afing (a hamlet of Jenesien) and Bundschen in the Sarntal valley. Along the way, interactive stations invite you to delve into the historical significance of the Marterloch gorge. For the brave and sure-footed, the trail offers another highlight: the path through the Marter Gorge below, with its steep cliffs and gnarled trees. For centuries, this was the only route connecting Jenesien and the Sarntal valley – a tough and rugged journey taken by farmers and traders alike.
