We begin our hike in the village center of Aldein and follow path No. 1 past the sports field to the right along Lahnweg to Karnolhof. Nearby is the legendary "Gevattertstein".
We walk west past the farmstead and reach a slight rise where the Leiterburg is located. From the ruins, we have a magnificent view over the areas south of Aldein. The descent is via the so-called Katzenleiter No. 1 (a stairway with about 530 stone steps). Passing the waterfall, we arrive in the village of Auer, which lies at about 240 meters above sea level.
Return to Aldein either via the same trail or by bus (line 140 Auer – Montan; line 142 Montan – Aldein).
