From Aldino to Pietralba
Südtirols Süden
Author’s recommendation
- Start early: conditions are often clearer and temperatures more pleasant in the morning.
- Proper footwear: sturdy hiking shoes are recommended, as some sections are rooty or steeper.
- Check the weather: the area is at higher altitude and weather can change quickly, especially towards Maria Weißenstein.
- Bring enough water: there are not always refreshment stops along the route.
- Follow the signage: the trails are well marked, but there are different variants (alpine meadow routes and pilgrimage path).
- Respect grazing livestock: keep dogs on a leash and maintain distance from cows.
- Use viewpoints: there are many scenic photo spots, especially towards the Dolomites and the Adige Valley.
- Plan time for Maria Weißenstein: the sanctuary is worth a longer stop for its cultural and peaceful atmosphere.
