Roadbook
From the car park on trail no. 2 heading towards the Auener Alm Alpine farm. At the first wooden bridge, head right via the forest trail no. 2A to the Kuhseitalm Alpine farm. Head up to the Untere Scharte crossroads via a forest road and then via the Alpine pasture trail no. 3. Follow a broad trail slightly downward to the Meraner Hütte mountain hut (open all year round). After a brief rest, the trail leads back to the Untere Scharte crossroads. From here head up the eastern ridge to just below the Spieler plateau. A 360° panoramic view now opens up.
Continue slightly down to the Kreuzjöchl plateau across a broad grassy slope and then to the Maiser Rast plateau. At the next fork take trail no. 4/E5 gently uphill to the Kreuzjoch (cross and viewing platform). Continue slightly downhill via the flat pasture (trail nos. 5A, 5, 2) until you reach the Vöraner Alm Alpine farm (staffed). After a refreshment stop head back, first via trail no. 2 and then on to the Auener Joch plateau. A detour to the “Stoanerne Mandln” cairns is worthwhile (+1 hour). Head via the Auener Alm back to the starting point at the Sarner Skihütte hut.
