"Lottersteig" – Murundum Trail No. 1

From the main square, we head east past the “Zeitreise Mensch Museum” and the cemetery. At first on the left, then also on the right, stone walls line the path. Below the cemetery, after the small chapel, we turn right onto the “Lottersteig”. Along this route, we enjoy the view away from traffic and admire the sometimes impressive walls supporting the vineyards.

At a bridge, where the tufa-forming “Ritsch” flows over a small waterfall into the “Millabach”, we cross the stream and hike back up to the junction of the Wine Road and the village entrance. Following the panoramic path and passing through a parking area, we continue along the Wine Road heading south until we reach Angela-Nikoletti Street, bordered by old stone walls.

Heading north, passing the historic residences Strehlburg, Ortenburg, and Ansitz Baron Widmann, we return to the starting point.

    Author’s recommendation

This route is perfect as a short scenic walk. Spring and autumn are especially beautiful when the vineyards change colour. The trail can be combined with other Murundum routes for a longer excursion.
