Murundum route nr. 2 - "Katzenleiter"
Südtirols Süden
Katzenleiter, along ancient trade routes – Murundum Trail No. 2
From the main square, the route passes by the pilgrimage church of St. Vigilius to the village entrance, where we cross the Wine Road and descend to the “Millabach”. We cross the stream via a covered bridge and follow the “Millastiege” down into the valley.
Along the boundary between orchards and vineyards, we walk north until the “Katzenleiter” branches off to the left and climbs steeply uphill again. Particularly interesting are the steps and walls, mainly built from sandstone.
Once at the top, we cross the Wine Road and walk past the cemetery and the “Zeitreise Mensch Museum” back to the main square.
In the past, farmers used the “Millastiege” and “Katzenleiter” paths to travel between the village and their fields.
