Pochi–Maso Sauch–Lago Santo: A varied mountain hike through forests with splendid views, about 810 hm and 15 km round trip.
The varied hike from Pochi / Buchholz to the picturesque Lago Santo follows the historic Dürerweg trail through the forests of the Monte Corno Nature Park. Passing through the Sauch Pass and beyond the Sauch Hut, the trail steadily ascends to Lago Santo, located at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters. The route offers splendid panoramic views, shady forest sections, and a peaceful natural landscape. The outbound and return journey takes place along the same path.

Start early, especially in summer.
Book enough time for a stop at Lago Santo.
The route is particularly suitable for spring, summer and autumn.
Check the weather forecast before departure.
The Cabana Sauch offers a possible stop, but opening hours should be checked before the hike.
In case of clear visibility, it is worth admiring the view of Val Venosta.

Safety information
Although the hike is technically moderately difficult, it requires a good level of fitness. Some sections may be narrow, steep or slippery when wet; small streams are also crossed along the route.
Before setting off, always check the weather forecast and current trail conditions. In case of thunderstorms, heavy rain or uncertain conditions, do not start the hike or turn back. Stay on the marked trails and allow enough time for the return journey. In case of emergency, keep your mobile phone easily accessible.
Roadbook
Follow the signs for the Dürer trail (AD) or path No. 8 towards the Sauch hut. The trail steadily ascends through chestnut, beech, and mixed forests. As the altitude increases, magnificent views of southern Alto Adige open up repeatedly.
Through the Sauch pass, the Sauch hut at about 915 m is reached. From there, continue on the Dürer trail and the path No. 1 towards Lake Santo. The route passes through shaded forest sections and runs alongside the old Roccolo del Sauch. After another ascent, Lake Santo is reached at approximately 1,200 m.
After a stop at the lake, return along the same route to Pochi.

Public transport
Buchholz/Pochi is mainly accessible by public transport in the Salorno area. For the corresponding connections, it is recommended to check the updated timetable of südtirolmobil, as connections and schedules may vary depending on the season. Lake Santo itself is only partially accessible by public transport.

Directions
From the A22 Brennero highway, take the Egna/Neumarkt exit and continue along the SS12 towards Salorno. From there, follow the road to Pochi. The starting point of the described route is located on the road south of Pochi.
Parking
Limited parking spaces are available at or near the starting point. Please park only in designated parking areas and keep access roads and private properties clear. As parking spaces may be limited, it is recommended to arrive early.
