Small, charming and surrounded by peaceful countryside: Kurtinig/Cortina on the South Tyrolean Wine Road invites you to enjoy a relaxing circular walk through the beautiful Adige Valley. Away from the hustle and bustle, discover the quieter side of Südtirols Süden, where orchards, vineyards and the nearby Adige River shape the landscape.

Starting in the historic village centre, this delightful walk takes you along almost completely flat paths and quiet country lanes through the surrounding agricultural landscape. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of the mountains and the peaceful atmosphere of a small village deeply connected to its farming traditions.

Thanks to its short distance and virtually no elevation gain, this walk is ideal for families, leisurely walkers and anyone wishing to explore Südtirols Süden at a relaxed pace. The route is particularly beautiful in spring, when the apple trees are in blossom, and in autumn, when the countryside glows with warm seasonal colours.

    Author’s recommendation

Take your time and enjoy the little details that make this landscape so special! This circular walk is particularly beautiful in spring, when the apple trees burst into blossom and transform the countryside into a sea of delicate flowers. Autumn is equally enchanting, with its warm colours and the special atmosphere of the harvest season.

For an extra touch of local charm, combine your walk with a stroll through the historic village centre of Kurtinig/Cortina. It's a wonderful way to discover not only the surrounding countryside but also the authentic character of this small village along the South Tyrolean Wine Road.

    Roadbook

The circular walk starts at St. Martin's Square (Piazza San Martino) in the centre of Kurtinig/Cortina on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. From here, initially follow the road towards the southeast, gradually leaving the charming historic village centre behind.

Crossing the provincial road, you reach Moosweg, which leads you southwards through the surrounding agricultural landscape. Here, the countryside opens up, offering peaceful views across the wide Adige Valley, with orchards and impressive mountains in the distance.

The route then continues westwards towards the Adige River. Near the river, the trail turns north, giving you a different perspective on the valley and its beautiful rural surroundings.

Afterwards, the route heads back towards the village. Follow Handwerkerstraße (Via degli Artigiani) and Gartenweg (Via degli Orti) to return to the residential area. The final section takes you back to St. Martin's Square, where your relaxing walk comes to an end.

The entire circular route is approximately 2.9 kilometres long and almost completely flat, making it perfect for an easy and enjoyable walk without significant physical effort.

Places to eat: Back in the village centre of Kurtinig/Cortina, you can round off your walk with a relaxing break. Depending on opening hours, local cafés and restaurants offer opportunities to enjoy a coffee, a light snack or regional specialities.
