Jenesien and the Tschögglberg take responsibility

Together for a good future

Here, thanks to the different altitudes over which Jenesien and its hamlets extend, nature shows its most diverse side: Numerous animal and plant species have their home here. Crisp fruit, fresh vegetables, nutritious chestnuts and delicious grapes thrive here. And on the lush green pastures, our cows enjoy the most delicious feed for a healthy life and simply good milk. Long transport routes are therefore fortunately not an issue for us, our restaurants and shops when it comes to many products.

Take a step further

Of course, much more is needed to preserve the unique geography, geology and landscapes of our area. For this reason, we – the three tourism associations on the Tschögglberg high plateau (Jenesien, Mölten and Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000) – have decided to make sustainability a key part of our strategy. An important step on this path is our certification as a sustainable destination according to the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) by the accredited certifying body for GSTC certification, Vireo (GSTC Code: GSTC DVR250101, issue date 11/02/2025, expiry date 10/02/2028).

Climate protection as a priority

For many years, Jenesien has been committed to climate protection – for example, by using green energy from its own photovoltaic systems, purchasing certified green energy, practising careful use of drinking water and professional wastewater treatment, promoting local economic cycles, and expanding sustainable mobility. In recognition of these efforts, Jenesien was awarded the "Climate Municipality Silver" certification and the "European Energy Award" in November 2018.
