Impressive trail from Lake Caldaro to both of the Monticolo lakes and back. The excursion cuts across the varied terrain and requires, due to the considerable length, a good physical condition. Not pram-friendly.

Start: Car park near the swimming pools in San Giuseppe al Lago
Finish: back at the starting point
    Length: 21 km
    Duration: approx. 2.5 h
    Elevation gain: 450 m
Terrain: Asphalt, gravel, and forest track
    Difficulty: demanding
Car park: San Giuseppe al Lago

From the car park on Lake Caldaro take the Lake Caldaro circular trail towards the south, then  head north from the small parking space next to the Weiler Klughammer until the main road towards Kreither Sattel/Pfatten. At the crossroads take a right and after 150 m take a left onto the forest road and continue to the Valle Primavera. Follow this path to Monticcolo and the Big Lake Monticcolo, then keep to the right shore of the lake until you see a road branch off to the right to the Small Monticcolo Lake. Go around the small lake and on the left Lake shore of the Large Monticcolo Lake continue to Monticcolo village. Take a right and cross into the Valle Primavera and over the asphalt road, following path no. 3 to the starting point.

TIP: As the trail through the Spring valley cuts across the Caldaro and Monticcolo lakes, and the valley bursts into bloom at the end of February/beginning of March, this excursion is especially recommended during the months of spring.
