Entry point to the horseshoe route
Mölten
The horseshoe route is a 7-day high-altitude and long-distance hiking trail in the Sarntal Alps. The route runs through alpine terrain in the heart of South Tyrol, past lush meadows and alpine pastures, over peaks and mountain passes, and along little-frequented and natural paths. Hikers and mountaineers are offered a fantastic view of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites, the Zillertal Alps, Stubai Alps, Ötztal Alps, as well as the Ortler area and the Brenta group. The classic horseshoe route starts in the eastern Sarntal Alps from Sarnthein and extends over 7 or 8 stages, running counterclockwise. However, the route can also be walked in the opposite direction. In addition, the horseshoe route can be started and conquered from several places. There is also an entry point at Mölten that leads up to the Stoanernen Mandln and then either further to the Meran 2000 area (opposite direction), or down to the other starting point Sarnthein. By the Möltner Kaser, under the Stoanernen Mandln, is also the last stamp station of the horseshoe tour.
