The Southern Wine Route starts in the center of the historic wine village of Kurtatsch and passes by the "Ur-Rebe," a vine cutting grafted in 1601 in Margreid. From here, it continues to Kurtinig, commonly called "Little Venice" because it was often flooded, and to Salurn, the southernmost municipality of the region with the largest contiguous white wine growing area. Returning via Neumarkt, one of the most beautiful town centers in Italy, where the best Pinot Noir vineyards extend up to Montan, the route passes the mystical power spot Castelfeder. Further on through Auer, the home of Lagrein, and challenging on the beautiful Koyotenpass. From there, over Kalterer See, known as the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, we arrive near the end of the round trip in Tramin. This village gives its name to the indigenous Gewürztraminer, which is produced here at the highest quality.

On this route, stopping for a visit, tasting, and enjoyment is a must.
