From St. Pauls to the castle triangle

The signpost No. 12 leads from the village center towards Missian past the Gothic church tower of St. Pauls. Shortly before reaching Castle Korb, there is the Castle hike signpost with a pictogram, which you now follow. Bush forest and beautiful views towards Bolzano and the Dolomites enrich the pleasant hiking trail. After the short, somewhat steeper final ascent, you reach the boldly built Castle Hocheppan on a rock in a total of two hours.

The continuation is somewhat adventurous but well marked. On a narrow path, it goes over porphyry stones slightly exposed down into the gorge of the Hocheppan valley. About 60 meters of secured metal steps bring hikers to the other side of the gorge towards Boymont castle ruins. Shortly on the forest path towards the south (the right turn to Perdonig is ignored), the castle sign shows the way down over loose rock until a steep asphalt lane is reached. In a 10-minute climb, the Boymont castle ruins are reached in a magnificent scenic location.

For the return route, walk back down the asphalt lane to the fruit trees and vineyards, where you join the ascent path that leads back to St. Pauls.

The hike then becomes a circular route and is only slightly longer if from Boymont castle ruins the No. 8/A is followed, which leads via the Kreuzstein guesthouse back to St. Pauls.
