Große Steintal

From Rathausplatz St. Michael towards Bolzano, you reach the roundabout from which you ride about 1 km along the road towards Montiggl before turning left onto Weisshausweg. You ride along the ascending road until you reach the new bike path, which conveniently leads to Montiggl | village or the Montiggler lakes. Here you cycle through the forest to the main road. You cross this to reach the bike path to Montiggl | village again. Once in the village, you ride downhill on the asphalt road towards the church (behind it, there is a fountain with fresh drinking water) and then keep left on path No. 5. After a short descent, it goes uphill again, always on the asphalt road towards Pfatten. You continue on the forest path Rai-Straße until you reach Langmoos lake. Here you turn onto the forest path Langmoos and after 2 km at a fork with a bone head, you turn left until you reach the destination of the tour: the “Große Steintal”. Through this enchanted valley, which gets its name from the numerous rocks that frame it, you reach the intersection with the old Rai-Straße, which you bypass by turning left immediately. You continue on the forest path back to Langmoos lake. Now you descend quickly on asphalt to then turn right near the barrier. Following the marking No. 20, you reach the Große Montiggler See, which you circle counterclockwise until you are above the bathing establishment. From here Path 1/A leads to the Kleine Montiggler See, where it is worth taking a short break or a jump into the lake. You continue riding uphill on the forest path No. 1. Upon reaching the highest point, ignore the path that descends steeply towards St. Michael and continue straight ahead on the more pleasant variant that merges into the other path further down. From here you can already see the intersection with the new bike path, which conveniently leads back to the starting point of the tour.
