Route:
The hike starts at the parking lot or the bus stop below Runkelstein Castle. From there, you cross a bridge and turn left, passing allotment gardens, until you reach the valley station of the Jenesien cable car (currently closed). Then continue on hiking trail no. 2. This trail leads very steeply over the access road to the Rafenstein castle ruins, past the Sandner farm, and after about 80 m you turn onto hiking trail no. 1B. The trail leads onto the farm access road above the St. Jakob chapel in the sand.
The hiking trail 1A moderately steeply passes above St. Georgen. You then follow the narrow farm access road to the right and after about 100 m the trail (5A) branches off to the left downhill towards Fagenbach and reaches the Winterle farm. Now follow marker no. 5, cross the state road and ascend a steeper section to Glaning road. Then continue hiking to the intersection with hiking trail no. 9. Within a few minutes, you reach the chapel of St. Martin in Glaning.
From Glaning, you now hike westward, turn right (no. 11), cross the Mauritius stream and then descend again to the paved road. Above the Noafer guesthouse, follow hiking trail no. 9 to Schmalzhof and then follow the path to the left. After another short ascent, you reach the state road again and follow it upwards for a short distance to the "Moar in Rumsein" farmstead. Then follow hiking trail no. 9 and after about 200 m of descent, always following the paved farm access road, turn right and descend several switchbacks down to a bridge. Then you reach Lanzoner farm. Then follow the driveway to the left for about 500 m until you reach Wegscheider farm. The trail first leads right to a fenced water reservoir, then shortly uphill to a trail descending left (signposted Terlan). Follow marker no. 8B towards Verschneid. Then turn left onto path no. 4A, westbound, until you reach the state road to Mölten.
Note: If you do not want to descend to Terlan, you can choose trail no. 4A westwards to "Ober-Tschirggl", which then continues to Vilpian.
Now you start the descent to Terlan. Follow Mölten road to the left and then hiking trail no. 4 to the right. Passing the Liebeneich manor of the Counts of Enzenberg, the trail continues left to Köstenholz manor and you reach the center of Terlan.
The last section of the "Keschtnweg" now leads from the center of Terlan to Vilpian. From the Terlan parish church, follow Kirchgasse to the right and turn left onto Silberleitenweg (no. 4A). You quickly overcome the height difference and then watch for trail marker no. 1A, which continues to the left westwards. Now hike on the Vorberg road until you reach Scholer farm. From Scholer farm follow trail no. 1A a short distance more and turn left onto trail no. 1. This leads to a fork where you can either descend steeply left down to the state fire brigade school (only for experienced hikers) or take the easier trail no. 1 down to the cable car valley station in Vilpian. Both trails lead you to the center of Vilpian.
Here the Keschtnweg ends.
