The Fenn Promenade, between Klobenstein and Lengmoos, is one of the most beautiful walking routes on the Ritten. Situated at over 1,000 meters above sea level, this idyllic circular walk invites visitors to relax in nature while combining exercise, history, and stunning views.
The approximately 2.1 km route passes through a historic beech forest, which gives the promenade its name: from the Alpine-Romansch munt fagōnja (“beech mountain”) through foenne, it became “Fenn.” Created in 1898 with the support of the Teutonic Order as a retreat for summer visitors, the Fenn Promenade still retains its special charm today.

Author’s recommendation
The name “Fenn” comes from the word fenna, meaning swamp or moss, and recalls the once wet meadows between Klobenstein and Lengmoos.
A little curiosity: walking the Fenn Promenade 20 times covers roughly 42 kilometers – the distance of a marathon. But usually, just one round is enough to experience the special atmosphere of this historic route.

Roadbook
From the Ritten railway station, take the road to the left (trail no. 24) to the centre of Klobenstein, and then walk eastward to the “Zentral” car park or the “Dorf” bus stop (1,150 m), where the ascent to the Fenn Promenade begins. The route circles around the Fennbühel hill to the east. When you come to the festival field, keep to your right (trail no. 20) and continue onwards until you come to the viewing platform, a wonderful spot to stop off for a breather. A plaque at this platform commemorates the opening of the promenade in 1898. Continuing onwards, in the shade of mixed woodland, you come to a hill with a view over the earth pyramids. The trail then crosses the slope and merges with the wide promenade trail at Lengmoos (1,160 m) at the Amtmann, which leads left towards Klobenstein and, from there, to the station.
