The Von Eyrl Promenade on the Ritten  is one of the oldest walking paths in the region, built in the mid-19th century by the Von Eyrl family. The gently sloping path connects Lengmoos with Klobenstein and features several viewing platforms along the way, perfect for pausing and enjoying the scenery. Originally, the promenade was used by monks from the nearby parish house as a “breviary trail,” where they observed the mandatory Liturgy of the Hours at specific times of day. This public prayer for church officials was structured so it could be completed in a single session, independently of daily activities. Today, the path is easy to walk and also suitable for strollers. After extensive restoration as part of an EU project, the promenade has regained its historic charm, lined with beech, oak, and pine trees.

    Author’s recommendation

Traditional clothing has always been a central part of life on the Ritten, and the custom is still upheld by associations and organisations to this day. The Ritten Museum of Traditional Costumes in the Commandery Lengmoos offers a fascinating insight in over 130 years of traditional clothing in this area. Open from May to October, Wed + Fri., 4 to 6 pm.

    Roadbook

This leisurely walk begins at Klobenstein station. Turn left after about 100 m towards the town centre and turn off to your left (trail no. 37) just before the wide ramp (steps). When you come to the houses, turn right, continue onwards to the edge of the wood, turn right again and follow the trail to the fork in the road leading to the Von Eyrl Promenade. This route is split into a lower section (trail no. 37) at the foot of the slope, and an upper section with viewing platforms (trail no. 37A); If you walk the route in a loop, you can combine both sections. At the eastern end of the promenade, descend to Lengmoos primary school. From here, you can either walk to the right, which will take you to the centre of Klobenstein, or continue along the loop route to the left, towards Lengmoos. When you come to Lengmoos church square, the wide trail (Parschalkweg, no. 37B) leads in a gentle ascent to the Sallrainweg crossroads. From the roadside cross, continue along the trail until you come to the main road and turn left to the Ritten railway station bridge and the train station.
