Hiking around the Montelargo/Breitenberg

This circular hike starts at the Steinerhöfe farms at the Montelargo/Breitenberg Mountain, high above Laives/Leifers. From there, trail no. 11 brings you to the Wölfl inn. For about 1.5 hours and after a steep start, the trail leads through the shady forest along the Lusina river to the Wölfl farm. Shortly before the Wölfl farm, there is a possibility for a shortcut by taking trail no. 11B, which leads directly to the inn Höggerhof. Otherwise trail no. 10 leads from the Wölfl farm along the road to the Höggerhof.

Continuing along trail no. 10 you will pass the Schadner farm and get back into the forest, always following the signposts to the viewpoint Enzbirch. First you will get to another viewpoint and shortly afterwards a narrow path leads for about 20 minutes over some rocks to the viewpoint Enzbirch, where you have a wonderful view over the Val d’Adige/Etschtal valley.

To return you have to take the same path back to the crossroads and turn right. At some point the markings no. 10 leads downhill on a steep trail to Laives. Follow trail no. 10 until you get to the signpost of trail no. 12, the high-altitude trail of Laives/Leifers, which brings you back to the starting point at the Steinerhöfe farms.
