    From Andrian you walk on trail no. 15 along the gorge "Gaider Schlucht" up to the ruins of Festenstein Castle: Pay attention - the path is very steep and requires appropriate footwear and dry weather! You continue on trail no. 15 to the hamlet of Gaid (Moarhof farmhouse) and then go down the "Larchsteig" trail to the Bittnerhof farmhouse and finally back to Andrian on trails no. 5B and no. 5. 

    At Festenstein Castle and the Schlossbichl viewpoint above Andrian, this hiking trail offers beautiful views of the Etschtal valley.

    Safety information

    The gorge is very steep and only suitable for expert walkers. Attention: danger of falling rocks!

    Roadbook

    From the car park at the upper end of the Bindergasse, path no. 15 leads directly into the Gaider Gorge. The gorge is moderately steep at the beginning, later very steep. In the rocky bush terrain it takes about 1 hour to climb up to the ruins of Festenstein Castle. From there you follow trail nr. 15 for about 20 minutes to Gaid. Heading north, take the forest path "Larchsteig" marker F, to the Bittner Buschenschank. To the right you continue to the farms Regele and Kofler and then through beautiful mixed deciduous forest on trail nr. 5 back to Andrian.
